Well, friends—
I started this Substack as an experiment after we put on Ballads from a Distance Star last March at Arts on Site. I thought I would try to write one newsletter a month. What happened was, those turned out to be much more like event summaries.
Now, a lot was going on last year. And a lot seems to be going on this year. But my blog at https://csecooney.com/ is where I wrote about events I’ll be at, books I like, sometimes even random acts of poetry.
And besides, while there are many fine things about Substack, and the immediate community around SFF anda ll seems super great, that’s all outweighed by the, you know, Nazi content.
So I’m going to go back to my little Wordpress blog (which I never left) as my main newsletter. I feel like I failed my level-up somehow, but at least I’m happy there. Carlos and I also share a blog/newsletter at https://hernandooney.com/, which has a lot of our Negocios Infernales content updates.
Follow us on those sites, and you’ll still get an update in your email. You may get it once a month, or you may get more, or slightly less. You’ll certainly get more varied content.
Wish it could have been different—
Yours truly,
C. S. E. Cooney
You totally didn't fail. (Substack certainly did, though.) As long as your voice is out there somewhere for us, it's a triumph.
You've not failed! I'm glad you're making a decision you feel comfortable with. And my goodness, two blogs sounds like plenty to manage without having a third in the mix. Hugs!
